They use images taken by the artist of his interests (landscape, trees, food, entropy, inanimate objects etc) and used them instead of the apps intended portraits. They take an the innocuous idea of the app and dirty mirrors its meanings, hinting at facial recognition, beauty, post-humanism, normality, deformation and other more insidious ideas of the self.
