Fredone Fone

  • Saw (ES), Brazil
Fredone Fone grew up in the Serra Dourada neighborhood, outskirts of Serra (ES), where he learned to paint while helping his father in the work of mason and painter, building and renovating houses in the region. In the mid-1990s, through skateboarding, graffiti, hip-hop, he found other ways to occupy the city he helped build. Fredone talks about the dream of the home and about self-construction as a tactic of occupation and survival of the black and peripheral population, which is the majority in construction work. He was recently awarded the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. New York, USA. 2020/21
