Taylor Ervin
Taylor Ervin (born 1988 USA) uses photoshop to make animated GIFs that explore form, abstraction and movement. His GIFs can be viewed as digital paintings, and their compositional qualities are indebted to the works of painters like Kasmir Malevich and Ellsworth Kelly and to the kinetic sculptures of Alexander Calder. His videos and web based works tackle themes of online self representation and investigate the relationship between technology companies, their users and the powerful interests that control them. He recently relocated from Chicago to Brooklyn, where he now lives and works.
