This piece is one of Akshata’s initial works from an ongoing project ‘Self-Face Experiments’ consisting of a series of digital assemblages. This piece is created using Vaporgram Pro software. As an extension to her undergraduate research on Pareidolia (perceiving random patterns as faces), Akshata has also been exploring more on the varied possibilities of human facial perception. She uses her face as a specimen of facial identity. She enquires its fragility and impermanence to perceive and recognize a face-form by manipulating it. What makes up a face? What is a face? Why is a face perceived in the way it is? And what if we perceive it in another way?.. are some notions explored through the conventionalities of the digital medium.
