This piece is one of Akshata’s recent works from an ongoing project ‘Self-Face Experiments’ consisting of a series of digital assemblages, which explores the possibilities of human visual perception. This is one of the first pieces edited on PicsArt software. It consists of a paper-cutout mask covering the face while taking the selfie. As an extension to her undergraduate research on Pareidolia (perceiving random patterns as faces), Akshata has also been exploring more on the varied possibilities of human facial perception. She uses her face as a specimen to explore true facial identity. She enquires its fragility and impermanence to perceive and recognize a face-form by manipulating it through the conventionalities of the digital medium.
