Tristan Onek's 'State Machines' is another algorithmic art display that builds upon previous exhibitions of the intersection between artistic and artificial methods. Previous source code that was successfully used in his works on his 'AI Aesthete' project were rewritten and given a new purpose in this series. The source code in the previous project was revised to produce new imagery by algorithmically distorting historic art pieces ranging from neoclassical to Dadaist influences. In computer science theory, a state machine is a model that describes how a machine moves from one state to the next - this series is representative of how the artist's work is moving to its next logical function.
