Tropical Goth, a video painting, is composed of 100’s of images collected off the Internet. It is a response to living in a visual culture and toying with the idea of painting as video, video as painting. Similar, to the philosophical take in Brain Eno's video paintings. The work is always centered on a series of non-sequiturs. Using a triad system. For example three words- Nowandlaters (candy), Chinese jump ropes, and tarantulas. From the three words we do image research and collection. For each triad, we will collect hundred’s of still images, via Google search relating to each word (a way of, creating a database to work from) we then take the images and edit them into a video format, (still images become moving images.) creating a one-minute video painting and 20 video still images for printing.
