Ver descrição

"Virtual Cartographies" seeks to problematize the relations of territory, georeferencing and coloniality. Created through the ArcGIS system, the map of Neniesistan - a country invented by the artist - appropriates the formal language of creating a map through actual georeferencing; This work intends to problematize the ideas of nation, territory and cartography, since the set of these ideas creates a pattern and shapes the mapping of any existing portion of land. The creation of a country that does not exist becomes, in this work, a way to subvert the language of cartography and the concepts of demarcation and ownership. Neniesistan means "No Man's Land", a mixture of the Esperanto language with the suffix "istan" (territory of).
