The lack of monetary power is restrictive, selective. What is consumed, what is comforted, who lives. Analogously lies the concern of the artist - especially emerging or independent - when it comes to survival, whether by the need to enter the marketing circuit, by the promotion of awards and grants or even when their production is restricted or made impossible by the tooling, material or space. The present video art appropriates the work of Richard Serra, Hand catching Lead (1968). It dialogues under the viewpoint of self-reflection and self-reference of the artist and his process of creation. Serra's refined representation is here reread and altered in order to reflect on the influence of money on both individual experiences.
