Platforms that host and display online video use a mechanism called “autoplay” to show users more content at the end of what they were watching hitherto. This suggestion is calculated by an algorithm from behavioral data collected and assigned to a given individual. Once this information has been deleted or not available, this same mechanism can lead to unexpected and unpredictable results allowing digital drift.
